Services Provided:

Orthopedics – When you come to see us we will:
Perform a thorough evaluation to identify the specific tissue at fault.
Discuss your evaluation in an easy to understand format so that you can assist us in your care.
Design an individualized exercise program applying the appropriate stimulus for safe and efficient healing.
Educate you on any postures and activities that may be detrimental to the healing tissue.
Treatment may include pain relieving modalities; such as ice, heat, ultrasound, electrical stimulation, and joint mobilization.

Manual Therapy – our approach to manual therapy is the hands on mobilization technique that accesses the quality of joint motion. This joint motion called arthokinematics, is imperative for normal functioning of the body. Manual therapy can also be used to access the quality of soft tissue such as scar tissue, muscles, tendons, or ligaments. If a patient is found to have limitation of the joints or soft tissue, it can cause pain and dysfunction.
Manual Therapy has been used in the following diagnosis:
Back and Neck pain
Post fracture sites
Scar adhesions
Plantar fasciitis
Rotator Cuff Strains
Impingement syndromes
Hand injuries

Personal Training – There can be a lot of apprehension about getting back into your normal daily activities after physical therapy, so we want to make this transition as easy as possible. We have two personal trainers that are trained in post rehabilitation personal training. They will set fitness goals that take into account your rehabilitation and train with you on a schedule that works best for you.

Acupuncture – works to open flow along meridians in your body, pathways that signal energetic, chemical, nutritional and hormonal resources your body needs to heal and maintain health. Whether you have headaches, hotflashes, digestive dysfunction, fibromyalgia, rheumatiod arthritis, pain, or some other condition, acupuncture can optimize health, as well as relieve symptoms, naturally.

Golf Fitness Academy- certified under the Titleist Performance Institute. The program is geared toward making your golf swing as efficient as possible. This enables you to play better golf for a longer period of time. You receive a full physical evaluation, designed to educate you on your physical limitations. Our trained staff can also explain how these limitations affect your golf swing. We can also design a personalized training package to meet your specific needs. This includes specific exercises and plans to help you decrease your physical deficits and maximize your swing efficiency.

Post Rehab Gym – You will have the opportunity to use the therapy gym when you have completed your formalized treatment for a nominal fee. In addition, your treating physical therapist can stay updated on your condition and make sure that you are transitioning back to the full swing of life without any road bumps.

Orthotics – Knee pain. Foot pain. Aching hips and low back pain. All of these problems can be caused by problems with your posture or the way your foot hits the ground when you walk. In many cases, custom-made orthotics can decrease the pain and abnormal stresses these problems put on the various parts of your body. When you come to see us we will:
Analyze your gait and posture.
Take detailed measurements of your feet.
Determine your foot type. (ie. Rigid, semi-rigid, average, loose)
Take custom foot impressions of both feet.
Discuss your activity level. This, along with other factors, helps us determine the best device for you.
Have you return for follow up visit to fit you with your custom-made orthotics.

Women's Health Program – There are many health concerns that women face today. Pelvic floor pain and urinary incontinence are two areas that commonly, and unfortunately, go untreated because people are not aware that there are treatment options for these conditions. One effective option is physical therapy. Our Women’s Health Program here at Blue Valley Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine is geared toward improving the quality of life for women who may be suffering from pelvic floor pain and/or urinary incontinence. Treatment interventions may include relaxation techniques, manual therapy, modalities, SEMG biofeedback, therapeutic exercise, and health bladder habits.

Aquatic Therapy – is a wonderful treatment option in conjunction with land physical therapy or on its own for a more comfortable treatment environment. Patients of all ages and abilities, as well as most diagnosis are appropriate for this treatment option. Benefits include:
Decreased pain and swelling
Increased range of motion
Introduction of advanced activities earlier in rehabilitation
Decreased impact with plyometric activities
Increased lean muscle mass
Increased joint health

Vestibular Rehabilitation – Dizziness, vertigo, loss of balance and/or equilibrium and motion sensitivity are all very common complaints. In fact, they are the 2nd most common compliant to doctors behind low back pain. But did you know that these problems can be successfully treated with vestibular physical therapy? One common compliant of dizziness, Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo, can be successfully treated with a couple of visits!

The systems in your body that work to coordinate your balance are highly integrated and when one system is not functioning it will disrupt your balance. Blue Valley Physical Therapy will evaluate all these systems to come up with a plan to improve your balance and decrease your risk of falling.
