Port Alexander School, Southeast Island School District
Port Alexander is a small fishing community located about 75 miles south of Sitka on the southern tip of Baranof Island. This vibrant community is home to about 100 seasonal people in the summertime and about 40 year round residents. Port Alexander has a rich history as the "King Salmon Capital of the World" and still brings people all over the world for it's bounteous fishing resources, abundant wildlife, and the grandier of the Alaskan wilderness. There are three world renowned fishing lodges, along with a few stores, post office, and a K-12 school. The Port Alexander School is part of the Southeast Island School District.
Southeast Island School District (SISD), a Regional Educational Attendance Area, operates nine remote schools on Prince of Wales, Baranof, & Kosciusko Islands in Southeast Alaska. There are 160 students in the district. Our vision is to create a technology-rich and safe learning environment for all students.
