Project MEND – Medical Equipment Network for those with Disabilities – San Antonio TEXAS
Project MEND is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) agency dedicated to helping low-income people with disabilities obtain medical equipment and financial assistance to help with the purchase of assistive technologies medically necessary for rehabilitation and recovery.
Project MEND is a non-profit agency that distributes donated DME that we repair, refurbish, and santize, to low-income persons with disabilities at no cost to them. The equipment is provided to the client for as long as necessary, and the client is asked to return it when they no longer need it.
Medical Equipment
Donated medical equipment (electric hospital beds; wheelchairs; power chairs; bedside commodes; walkers; etc.) is cleaned, fixed, and repaired. This equipment is then provided to those that need it and can’t afford it.
Assistive Technology (AT)
This service helps individuals with disabilities pay for specialized medical equipment like, diabetic shoes; gait trainers; cranial helmets; adaptive switches; communication equipment; seating aids; and others. These devices must be medically necessary. Project MEND offers financial assistance for a maximum of $500 per adult client and $1,000 per child.
The number of clients Project MEND is able to assist changes each year due to funding.
