Provena Physical Rehab & Sports Injury Center offers Pediatric Therapy. This service helps improve the speech, motor skills, language and strength of children from birth to 17 years old.

The Provena Physical Rehab & Sports Injury Center is staffed by therapists who are certified in pediatric therapy techniques and utilize the latest equipment and products to maximize each child's potential for development. Therapists are Illinois licensed and Early Intervention credentialed. They are trained in therapeutic listening, sensory integration and therapeutic feeding.

There are several approaches to pediatric therapy, including:

  • Aquatic Warm Water Therapy – Held in the rehabilitation pool, aquatic therapy allows muscles to relax and provides patients a better range of motion. This is especially beneficial for children with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, cerebral palsy, autism, and sensory integration dysfunction.
  • Physical Therapy – Physical therapy increases balance, muscle strength and fine motor skills. Through the use of special gym equipment, including a swing, balance beam, stairs, and support treadmill, children are able to control some aspects of their therapy and enjoy what they are doing. Therapists are trained for custom bracing and assistive devices.
  • Speech Therapy – Speech therapy focuses on evaluation and treatment of oral motor, and feeding and swallowing abilities. In addition, therapists evaluate and treat articulation and speech sound production difficulties and receptive and expressive communication skills.
  • Occupational Therapy – Occupational therapy addresses a child's developmental skills through the use of sensory integration, neurodevelopmental techniques and specialized treatment programs. These programs include therapeutic listening, which utilizes sounds in combination with sensory integration techniques for children with autism, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and sensory integration dysfunction.Specialized therapy is also available for children with feeding difficulties due to sensory defensiveness, oral motor difficulties, reflux or supplemental tube feedings.
