Sebasticook Valley Hospital (SVH) serves an area encompassing a population of approximately 30,000 people in central Maine. We have a wide range of outpatient services, including over 20 specialty services.   The medical staff of Southern Maine Medical Center consists of approximately 200 active physicians, plus consulting, courtesy, honorary physicians, and allied health professionals. They represent the specialties of family and general practice; internal medicine; obstetrics and gynecology; including the sub-specialties of cardiology, dermatology, pulmonology, oncology/hematology, neurology, gastroenterology, and allergy/immunology; pediatrics; general surgery; orthopedic surgery; urology; ophthalmology; oral surgery and general dentistry; psychiatry; pathology; podiatry, anesthesiology, radiology, emergency medicine, and occupational medicine. In addition, SMMC has an ongoing physician recruitment program, working to attract primary care and specialist physicians to meet the growing needs of the community.
