Sonora Creek – Therapeutic Riding Program
Sonora Creek, founded in 1995, is a state of the art 25 stall boarding facility located in Canton, GA nestled close to the Cherokee and Fulton county line. Between the twenty-two acres of pristine land, gentle rolling hills and its spacious pastures, it is the ultimate environment to board and or train your horse! We also provide specialized lesson programs in dressage & hunter/jumpers for both beginners & advanced riders of all ages as well as a stimulating therapeutic program with certified instructors.
Additionally, Sonora Creek hosts a fun full summer camp program offering horse back riding, horse care, swimming, and arts and crafts for ages 5 through 15!
Therapeutic Riding Program: Horseback riding for the disabled is recognized as one of the most progressive forms of therapy. The ability to control a horse as well as one’s own body inspires self-confidence, responsibility and teamwork. It creates an enjoyable experience and relationship between rider and horse while providing a personal challenge. A horse’s gait, similar to the human walk, helps strengthen spine and pelvic muscles, improves posture and coordination, and increases joint mobility.
