The Southern Ute Head Start program in Ignacio Colorado was established in 1968.

Early Head Start was started in 1999. The program is an early childhood education program that utilizes the Montessori Method.
The Head Start program is an early childhood education and family support program serving children ages 3-5 years old and their families.

Head Start offers a 9 month program with options of half day attendace from 8 am to 1pm Monday-Thursday; or full day attendance, Monday-Friday 7:30am to 5:30pm.

Early Head Start serves infants and toddlers, 6 weeks to age 3, and pregnant women. This program provides year-round, full-day early care and education services using the Montessori Method.
