Division for Learning Support: Equity and Advocacy
The mission of the division is to provide technical assistance, leadership, advocacy, staff development, training, and education to help meet the diverse cultural, emotional, social, health, and educational needs of Wisconsin's youth. The mission is met through collaboration with federal, state, and local groups. The division, through the state schools, WESPDHH and WCBVI, provides direct instruction to students and technical assistance through outreach to local educational agencies (LEAs), communities, and families statewide. The fulfillment of the mission involves managing state and federal resources, monitoring and evaluating programs and practices, and facilitating school-district and community efforts to meet specific needs of students. The Division for Learning Support: Equity and Advocacy consists of: Special Education Team; Student Services, Prevention, and Wellness Team; Wisconsin Educational Services Program for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Delavan; Wisconsin Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired, Janesville.
