Special Trinity Riders Involved in Developing Equestiran Skills (STRIDES)
Equestrian Skills (STRIDES)
Special Trinity Riders Involved in Developing Equestrian Skills (STRIDES), began in 1990 as a therapeutic riding program for children and adults with developmental disabilities in the Will, Grundy and South Cook County region.
Horsemanship became part of Trinity's services after horse owners on the staff found remarkable changes among individuals who had a chance to ride. Frowners started smiling, the silent began talking, and everyone's self-esteem rose. Riding also improved coordination, listening skills, and concentration.
For the people with developmental disabilities who ride, care for, and love them, STRIDES 10 horses provide learning, exercise, employment, and fun. STRIDES is one of Trinity's most innovative and rewarding programs.
