Pediatric EEG (Electroencephalogram) Lab & Tests
The EEG lab performs testing on children of all ages.  The EEG (electroencephalogram) is the electrical impulses of the brain transmitted to a computer, which are then studied by a  trained technologist.  This painless test is usually performed for detecting seizure activity but may be used as a diagnostic tool for other reasons.  A pediatric neurologist will read and interpret the test.

Evoked potentials (visual and auditory somatosensory) are also done in the lab.  Used for diagnostic reasons, these test the brain's response to known stimulus…the visual of a flashing checkerboard, the auditory of clicking through ear inserts. Both tests are entirely painless although some discomfort may result from the nerve stimulation.
