Stern Center for Language and Learning
The Stern Center was founded in 1983 by Dr. Blanche Podhajski as a nonprofit learning center dedicated to helping children and adults reach their full potential. Many people who struggle with reading, writing, and mathematics do not learn the same way as those who easily achieve literacy. Stern Center professionals evaluate and teach all kinds of learners, including those with learning disabilities, dyslexia, language disorders, autism, attention deficit disorders, and learning style differences. The Stern Center is committed to helping individuals identify their learning strengths as well as their needs and to finding solutions that allow everyone to learn. We evaluate and teach more than 900 children and adults each year including those with learning disabilities, dyslexia, language disorders, autism, attention deficit disorders, and learning style differences. We design and deliver professional learning programs for more than 1,500 general and special education teachers each year. Research-based information about early literacy, oral language, reading, written language, social thinking, executive functioning, and math is presented through workshops, undergraduate and graduate courses available both live and online, and symposia.
