The One City Summer Fun initiative (Formerly known as Safe Passages Summer Youth Program.) is an inter-agency initiative focused on providing services to DC residents, and especially District youth, during the summer months.

In 2011 the initiative brought together the resources and talent of DC agencies to provide opportunities for residents and youth to SWIM, PLAY, LEARN, WORK, CREATE and VOLUNTEER in every ward across the city. Coordination included the Summer Youth Employment Program, the DCPS Summer School Program, the opening of DC's outdoor pools and special events put on by District agencies, community based organizations, private businesses, faith-based groups, and others. This collaborative effort played a large role in the reduction of violent crimes, higher participation rates in youth programs and better coverage & publicity of activities throughout the District.

In 2012, the One City Summer initiative will return to offer programs and partner with groups across the District. More information on this initiative will be provided in the months ahead so check back for regular updates. Sign up below for email and text updates.

As we begin to collect program information for the 2012 summer, government agencies, community based organizations and other groups may submit programs they would like posted on the One City Summer website by completing the Summer Program Submission Form.
