The Arc of Nebraska is private, non-profit, statewide organization that stands with individuals and families in advocating and supporting Nebraskans with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Since 1952, The Arc of Nebraska has secured the opportunity for children and adults with disabilities to choose and realize their goals of where and how they learn, live, work and play. The Arc believes that disability is a natural part of the human experience and in no way diminishes  the right of individuals to live independently, enjoy self-determination, make choices, contribute to society, pursue meaningful careers, enjoy full inclusion and  integration in the economic, political, social, cultural, and educational  mainstream of American society. The Arc of Nebraska and local chapters of The Arc provide important information to people with developmental disabilities and their families, connect them to community supports and resources, and stand with them in direct advocacy efforts. All chapters are affiliated with The Arc of the U.S., the nation's largest grassroots advocacy organization for people who have disabilities.
