"The Blue Ridge Autism and Achievement Center (BRAAC) is a nonprofit, nonsectarian center that provides education and services for children and families affected by autism and unique learning challenges, such as Learning Disabilities.
It was founded in June, 2009 through a merger between two well established programs whose mission was the same: Provide services to children in the Roanoke Valley and Lexington area who struggle to learn and succeed in typical environments.
As the merger of The Achievement Center and the Blue Ridge Autism Centers’ Board of Directors occurred, a full day, year-round school program of intervention based on the science of Applied Behavior Analysis and multi-sensory approaches to learning, evolved.
Students in Roanoke now fill the halls of the 26,000 square foot state of the art school, complete with a preschool, gym, cafeteria, library and computer lab. Today the organization has grown to include academic, and transitional programs, as well as school, family & community outreach services. Trainings occur frequently in the multi-purpose room. BRAAC is proud to be, first and foremost, a training center in the Roanoke and Lexington areas for children and educational staff alike."
