In 1981, we recognized the need for accessible, economical medical care, particularly for those patients with minor accidents and illnesses not necessarily requiring the extensive services of a hospital's emergency department. The Greenwood Immediate Care Center opened in July of 1981 and the public responded with enthusiasm. Since that time, additional centers have opened throughout the Indianapolis metropolitan area, and in November 2010, the Immediate Care Centers became a part of Franciscan Saint Francis Health. We now have the privilege of serving approximately 100,000 patients per year in the urgent care setting.
