Pheamo R. Witcher – Executive Director

Annually, The Genesis Center serves up to 600 individuals in its adult education and workforce development programs and up to seventy-two children in its childcare program. Our staff and students represent more than twenty-five countries and ten language groups.  The self-sufficiency of our clients depends on learning English, accessing essential life skills and obtaining occupational/job skills training so they can support themselves and better provide for the future of their families. The Genesis Center's adult education classes and occupational/job skills training focus on enabling family members to improve their employment skills, pay scales, and prospects for promotion.  On-site childcare helps adult students attend classes knowing that their children are well cared for. Our mission is to provide the highest quality education, job training and support services to people of diverse cultures so that they may achieve economic independence and participate fully in society. We are an adult education center where adult immigrants and refugees learn English, survival skills, citizenship, computer skills, health information, math and much more so they and their families can become self-sufficient. We are a childcare center licensed to serve 74 children ages 6 weeks to five years of age. Our children participate in a variety of programs addressing their intellectual, social, emotional and cultural development. We are a workforce development center where students learn culinary arts and health care careers. Our job training programs consist of classroom instruction, hands-on experience and internships, where appropriate. We are a support center for students and their families that provides on-site case management, job development services, and health education and referrals.
