Lothlorien Therapeutic Riding Center was established in 1983 to provide horsemanship and horse back riding opportunities for individuals of all ages with cognitive, physical, emotional and learning disabilities. Since 1986, Lothlorien has owned and operated our present facility which is located just outside of the Village of East Aurora, NY.

Lothlorien Therapeutic Riding Center is proud to collaborate with D’Youville College to offer the Lost Elms Therapy Services – Great Opportunities! (LET’S GO!) Hippotherapy program. Through the generosity of the Fierle family, the program takes place at their private estate at 2419 Lapham Road in Aurora. For more information, please contact Program Director Sarah Pictor, PT, DPT, PCS at (716) 829-7827

According to the American Hippotherapy Association Inc. (AHA, Inc.) website, Hippotherapy “promotes the use of the movement of the horse as a treatment strategy in physical, occupational and speech-language therapy sessions for people living with disabilities. Hippotherapy has been shown to improve muscle tone, balance, posture, coordination, motor development as well as emotional well-being.”
