Located in Stoughton, Wisconsin, Three Gaits, Inc., is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization whose mission is to provide an effective therapeutic horsemanship program for children, youth, and adults with disabilities and special needs. Therapeutic horsemanship uses equine oriented activities to promote and enhance the development of each rider's cognitive, physical, and communicative abilities, and positive self-esteem. Three Gaits strives to serve all interested individuals within Dane County Wisconsin and the surrounding area. Three Gaits is pleased to be able to offer participants the following equine-assisted programming options: Therapeutic Riding (Sport/Recreational) – Incorporates education, competition, therapy and recreation into horseback riding; Hippotherapy – A therapist uses the movement of the horse as a treatment tool, working toward functional goals; Carriage Driving – A new therapeutic carriage driving program provides a wider-based therapeutic equine experience; Un-Mounted Horsemanship Activities – An Adult Horse Club for adults involved with Three Gaits to learn about horse care and horsemanship skills from the ground; Day Camps – During the summer day camps are open to participants with and without special needs.
