Family Support Services – We understand that living with a disability can present a unique set of challenges. UCP is here to help you succeed. Whether it be information to better understand your disability, financial assistance, available medical and therapeutic services, accessible sports and recreation, support for family members including respite, connecting with other people who have "been there, done that", or advocacy, let us get you linked up. It just takes one call. We are here for you!
Sibling Support and Respite Services – UCP's Sibling Support is held monthly (see details to the right) for brothers and sisters up to age 12 years. Through games, siblings share their experiences and feelings with others "who get it" and learn coping mechanisms, as well as get reassurance that their emotions are normal. Cost is $3 for each child.
Respite Care is provided by Leawood Baptist Church in conjuction with UCP's Sibling Support. Respite Care is available for children with special needs and their siblings ages 6 months to 12 years old (see details to the right). Volunteers staff this program and have many years of experience in helping the child with special needs. Cost is $3/child eating dinner.
