Patient Services
Interpreter Service – If English is a second language for you, we provide AT&T Interpretive Services. Through a three-way telephone line process, an interpreter is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to ensure that you are aware of your medical condition and the clinical care needed. The interpreter will be utilized to gain medical and psychosocial information so that the doctor is well informed of all your complaints and medical problems.

Chaplaincy Service- The Chaplaincy Service at UMC is committed to meeting the spiritual needs of patients and families of all faiths. Chaplains are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to provide spiritual and emotional support to patients and families and provide a number of services. To contact a chaplain, call 202-574-6000. You can also ask your nurse to page the on-call chaplain. Special services available upon request include:
Telephone & Television Services – Every patient is provided both telephone television services in his or her room. For assistance, contact Communications Services at 202-574-6000. Its staff is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Mail – The UMC mailroom provides mail delivery to all patients. Stamps are available in Gerald's Gift Shop. There is a U.S. Postal Service mailbox directly across from the gift shop with morning and afternoon pick-up times.
Newspapers – An attendant visits patient floors once a day to announce the sale of newspapers, including the Washington Post and USA Today. Newspapers are available at stands in the gift shop.
