Vermont Department for Children and Families – Family Services Division
"Respite provides parents and other caregivers with much-needed breaks— from family obligations or to attend to adult matters. It also provides children with opportunities to experience new things and develop new relationships, which can often last a lifetime.
Respite care can be for a few hours, a day, a weekend, or a week or two. Some people only provide respite for a specific child or family they know, while others offer respite to any child or family in their community. For more information about becoming a respite provider, please contact the DCF Family Services District Office nearest to you and ask to speak to the Resource Coordinator."
