The Vermont Division of Disability and Aging Services currently has 4 private respite homes available throughout the state of Vermont. While providing a warm and caring family environment, individuals are provided opportunities to have fun and relaxation during their stay at the home. Each home provider has experience in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities. Some of the home providers also accept individuals who have nursing needs. All ages are welcome, although some of the homes specialize in children’s care. This service is provided at no cost, which gives primary caregivers a wonderful opportunity to take a vacation or simply a weekend off, and know that their family member is being well cared for. Best of all, this gives the individual with a disability the chance to experience a break from their day-to-day routine, meet different people, and have fun. To schedule a stay at the: St. Albans, Salisbury, or Johnson home, please contact the Division of Disability and Aging Services at 802-241-2401. To schedule a stay at the Rutland home, please contact Marc Carpenter at 802-775-0828.
