VSA arts is a private, non-profit, international organization that provides programs in creative writing, dance, drama, literature, music and visual arts for individuals with physical or mental disabilities. Founded in 1974 by Jean Kennedy Smith as an educational affiliate of The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Very Special Arts seeks to promote worldwide awareness of the educational and cultural benefits of the arts for all people.
