Watson Institute – Private Special Needs School
Special Education Programs
The Watson Institute has been caring for children with disabilities since 1917. Today, Watson continues that tradition through specialized educational special education programs for children between the ages of 3 and 21 who have been diagnosed with autism, cerebral palsy, brain injuries, neurological impairments, and other developmental disabilities and emotional challenges.
In addition to our special education schools, Watson offers additional programs to meet the needs of our children, their families and professionals who care for them. For example, we offer community based instruction through partnerships with school districts across Western Pennsylvania. We also help families through our special needs and autism support groups, and more. For children, we provide a number of psychological services including wraparound services, diagnostic evaluations and neuropsych testing. We work to improve their social skills through cognitive behavior group therapy, summer camps and other activities for children with special needs.
