Wendell Foster’s Campus for Developmental Disabilities: Assistive Technology Center – KENTUCKY
The Western Kentucky Assistive Technology Center (WKATC) at Wendell Foster's Campus has been in operation on Wendell Foster's Campus for Developmental Disabilities in Owensboro, KY. WKATC provides assistive technology services to individuals with disabilities, family members, teachers, hospitals, adult day programs, rehabilitation therapists and many more.
Services provided by WKATC staff include: information and assistance, device demonstrations, training, short term device loans, technical assistance and public awareness.
Community Computer Lab
WKATC now hosts regularly scheduled hours for interested parties to utilize its computer technologies in the Community Computer Lab. Four accessible workstations are available, including a KidSmart computer that is loaded with educational software to teach valuable concepts and skills to children of all ability levels. Also available is an Attainment workstation with an internal touch screen that offers 37 programs focused on transitioning and includes literacy, math, money skills, work skills, and social modeling programs.
