The Pelham YMCA was established in 1997 as a result of a joint venture between the Birmingham YMCA and Shelby Baptist Medical Center. The facility was designed with the entire family in mind. Architecture was very modern and boasted over 41,000 square feet of facilities including areas for health and wellness, childcare, basketball, volleyball, field sports and leadership programs for youth, teens, adults, and seniors. Still today, the hospital houses one of their outpatient physical therapy facilities inside our YMCA.

More than a place, the YMCA is a cause. With programs from A to Z – like athletics to advocacy, dance classes to disease prevention, volleyball to volunteerism – we don’t just strengthen individuals, we strengthen our community. Our organization impacts so many people in so many ways. Everyone has a role to play. Together, we can achieve so much more.
